My Creative Space

This is my creative space today.  It’s the art studio at my church.  I was helping to paint the set for this week’s sermon which is part of the new series called “The Story of God”.  I was very excited to be able to use the skills that God has given me to serve Him and His Church!

I painted from mid morning to late afternoon.  It was really nice to just focus on painting for a while.  My husband, who supported me throughout my art pursuits, took care of our daughter while I did this.  He is the best husband in the whole world and also a humble servant of the LORD.  I’m so blessed to have him!

Monsters and microbes…

Oh my gosh!  How CUTE is this???  This past Sunday, Abby saw a cute Monster plush in a store window and liked it.  I was thinking about making her one but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.  So tonight, I decided to browse Etsy a little to get some ideas or see if there are better ones, etc.  And I came upon this cute little guy from Bubbletime!  It’s a handmade plush microbe!  Just look at that face!  Anyways, just thought I would let everyone know about this cute little guy from this cute little shop.

Here are some other cute plushes from Bubbletime:

My Creative Space

So as I was preparing for my garage/craft sale this past weekend, I also did a lot of printing and packaging and displaying of my soaps and earrings.  I finally cleaned up enough space in my studio to bring up this desk from the basement.  This has now become my packaging station!  I’m loving it because it has helped organize my studio a little bit more!  Yay, we’re getting a step closer to a nice workspace!  Just in time for my birthday!  :)

(Oh, and my birthday is this Saturday so I’m hosting a giveaway to celebrate!  Check out this post: http://www.project31studio.com/?p=187)

Oh Happy Day… with Happy People!

June 17th, 2010 Comments Off

So as I was following Mitsy at ArtMind on her blog and twitter, she suddenly posted her Happy Girl tutorial.  So I immediately went to see what’s up.  And I’m so glad I read it because it made my day!

I followed her tutorial and made some changes to tailor to my fancy and came up with the following:

Happy people2

Some changes/ideas I added to her tutorial:

  1. I made a knot below the wood bead to make a neck.
  2. Instead of double sided tape which I don’t have, I used a glue gun to glue all the clothes and the arms on.
  3. As for the clothes, I experimented with a shirt and shorts for a boy and a overall dress for the girl with the hat.  I folded the felt up so I can cut out both sides the clothes at the same time.
  4. I added a button in between the top knot and the wood bead for a cute hat!

Happy people

Here is a picture of the faces drawn on.  I messed up the first one (the yellow girl on the bottom left) when I used too big of a marker.  Then after I switched to the 02 Pigma Micron pen it worked out much better.  :)

Anyways, thanks Mitsy for the happy tutorial!
